Christmas is coming....

...the goose is getting fat!  (Or as I used to sing happily when I was little: "The Goose is getting laid!")

As Andy Williams says, it's the most stressful wonderful time of the year!!!  In all seriousness, I am incredibly excited for Christmas this year, as last year I was pretty much Ebenezer Scrooge from Black Friday until Dec. 26th.

I already kicked off the season early with a Starbucks snowman cookie (seriously, they're fucking delicious-- yes, it deserved the "F" word!), Williams-Sonoma hot chocolate-- made on the stove with milk, thank you very much-- and cinnamon marshmallows from Atwater's Village Bakery and Cafe

We traversed over to The Americana at Brand where you can visit Santa in his house, stroll around beautifully decorated grounds while listening to classic Christmas tunes, savor the 100ft. tree, or chase the suds they call "snow" at designated times. It's a blast!

Plus I added to my holiday movie collection with this beauty:

It's cute but "The Thin Man" is still my favorite film to watch this time of year.

In honor of the Holiday Season, I'll be posting more recipes and product reviews for gift ideas this year. Not to mention I'll have a few movie posts reviewing some of the latest releases (anyone else excited for "Les Miserables" and "The Hobbit?!"), as well as awesome/cheesy/terrible holiday films.

What are some of your Christmas traditions?

  2. I'm happy you're back in the spirit this year!! One of my favorite traditions, whether at the parents or my place is decorating. I love turning up the Christmas music and dancing around while deciding just the right place to put my ornaments. Although at my apartment there are far less decorations than at the parents.

I'm really pumped for Christmas this year, so I'm looking forward to your cheery blogs.

  3. The Americana looks magical during Christmas time - thanks for sharing these lovely photos. It sucks that I live kind of far from it ((

    1. Boo :( I HIGHLY recommend trying to get over here, but I completely understand not wanting to. Stupid LA traffic, ugh! But if you visit, come late afternoon so you can see it during the day and then enjoy the lights.

  4. I am so jealous of the Americana...California has been moving steadily up my list of potential future places to live list but Rand is still pretty against it...I can work on that though.

Your hot chocolate and cookie look AMAAAAAZING!

    1. Haha-- the West Coast, especially SoCal, is a hard place for solid Midwesterners to live. Michael and I always knew we'd leave the Midwest so it's been easier, but we'd like to build a house out there in a few years and just travel to LA for work... or maybe move to San Fran for a while... and of course purchase a second home in Europe when we're in our 40's or 50's. I've got plans girl. But as far as raising kids, I'd like them to grow up or at least know the values of Midwesterners for a portion of their lives. I miss the politeness and gratitude from Wisco.
